The City–it has amazing food (everywhere). You can get a drink or eat and have one of the new 7 wonders of the world (Table Mountain) in the background and the scenic water front in the foreground. The is a lot do and what’s great is it’s easy to get around.
A quick tax or bus ride to the other side of town and you can visit the colorful neighborhood of Bo-Kaap.
Table Mountain is was named one of the “new” 7-wonders of the world. I’ve very cool to say the least.
If you are in shape and have time, we recommend hiking up the side all the way to the top (it takes 1.5-2 hours). You can also take the gondola but make sure you get there early; the line can take longer than the hike.
Once on top of the mountains, you can walk around for hours and see some of the most stunning views you’ll find anywhere in the world.
Sky Diving–Cape Town is an adrenaline junkie’s kind of place. Lots to do including sky diving.
Dad went twice on each trip with the kids who went at ages 16 (Mitch) and 17 (Lauren).
Dad is a afraid of heights but it that’s not an issue, oddly enough, when you jump out of a plane.
It was a huge thrill ride and all of us enjoyed it and would go again.
Great White Shark Diving–this has got to be on your bucket list (Dad and Lauren we able to go (Mitch got weathered out).
These sharks are enormous and you get to be up close and personal. We had a few ram our cage which was really cool.
What was also cool was sitting on the 2nd level of the boat looking downward as the sharks circled the boat and also rammed into the cage.
Water was freezing but it was one of those once in a lifetime events you just can’t miss.
Robbin Island–This was truly amazing. To get a tour of the island and jail where Nelson Mandela was held captive for 18 years.
Learning more about history is one of the great things about traveling around the world and it is especially true when you can go to a place where you can learn the trials and tribulation of someone who truly changed the world.
Off Road ATVing–We had some extra time when we were in Cape Town and so we randomly chose to go on an ATV adventure (we are so glad we did).
We were guided around both the flat lands and mountain side with really interesting, diverse, and scenic trails. I know you can do this all over the place in the states, but seems so much cooler when you are doing it in SA (not to mention when in the states, we’d probably never make time to do an adventure like this).
